Iuba

Written on January 14, 2012 – 1:16 pm | by admin

Co-founders Rob and Daniel Stone have announced the public launch of iuba.com. iuba is an innovative new financial platform that will allow users to make more informed financial decisions by allowing users to understand the financial decisions of a peer group determined by the user. iuba allows users to create a peer group using demographic and geographic variables, and learn how the peer group, for example, saves for retirement, or uses life insurance to protect their family.

The concept for iuba originated out of his personal experience and the frustration he felt in relying on self-interested industry advice in making important financial decisions. His expectation is that iuba will be recognized as a site for objective data that can serve as an aid for people to make important financial decisions.

Asking friends and family about financial matters can be considered off limits by many. iuba is like having that same conversation – but only better, with an entire community of peers.

As the community of users grow, Rob and Daniel Stone expect to introduce additional financial topics and more local comparisons.

Deelio is, we believe, the best way to discover relevant daily deals online. We present deals in both beautiful map and list views for quick and easy browsing. We integrate Yelp reviews so that users can make decisions quickly about whether the deal is a good one or not (for example, that $29 massage normally worth $90 might not seem so good if you see that the business only has 1 Yelp star. Deal sites don’t always have an incentive to show negative information about their deals, but with Deelio we’re committed to providing as much useful, unbiased meta-information as possible to allow users to make the most informed decision).

I personally used to spend a lot of time with many deal sites open in tabs in my browser, and various tabs for Yelp reviews for each business, plus tabs with Google Maps so I could see if the business was close to me. Deelio solves that problem by bringing the information together in a single place.

We also allow users to organize the deals they’ve bought by “starring” deals (basically saving them) so that they’ve got a single place where they can keep track of all the deals they’ve bought from various sites. So if you’re wondering whether you bought that 60% off massage deal from Gilt City or Groupon, you can just go to your Deelio account to find out.

Finally, we have a very easy way to save views, which allows users to create personalized filters and save them. For example, I can zoom in
to Greenwich Village in New York in the map view, then select food and drink deals and filter by 4-star Yelp reviews. I can then save this view and quickly access it, allowing me to only see the best restaurant deals available in Greenwich Village.

It’s graduation day. Your name was just called and you are steps away from receiving your diploma. Your family looks on, proud of your accomplishment. As you reach for your diploma, you smile as you remember all the hard work it took to get to this moment. You then receive your diploma, take your first steps as a graduate, and begin to think…what’s next?

Planning for your future after graduation is one challenge many young people are faced with. Many graduates are having difficulties making critical life decisions as it is hard to get a sense of how their decisions will affect their future. Decisions such as pursuing higher education, becoming career focused, starting a family or enlisting in the service are just a few examples of decisions that will play a part in how one’s life unfolds.

The Army National Guard has a new application they created and is designed to give users an online visualization experience that will help the user plan their future. The program titled My Life helps users customize their “life” through different environment, occupation, and interest decisions showing users how their decisions will affect them financially and professionally.

There are people who need things to be put their way, not necessarily because they are lazy but simply because they have no time to spare. When shopping online, for example, the only services that they can derive any use from are the ones that can produce personalized recommendations, and have them delivered with a minimum of fuss.

And you know, that is exactly what characterizes this new web service. VendorFriender lets people save at all of their favorite online retailers. The site gathers together all the latest sales, coupon codes and promo codes, and then presents them to users in a clear context. It all becomes centralized in the same email. No longer will anybody have to go through different lists just to know which of his favorite stores are offering items at a discounted price.

Bargain Jill

Written on August 21, 2011 – 6:11 pm | by admin

Starting a few years ago, founder Dustin DeVries and his wife began collecting coupons and deals from national retailers as a result of the recession. They shared this information with their friends and family, and this venture continued to grow until Dustin decided to make collecting online coupons and deals a full-time venture. Thus was born Red Tag Media.

Since then, the component sites have grown in size and success; PC Magazine named Bargain Jack a Top 10 Deal Site, for example.

Bargain Jill is one of these component sites, and is a one-of-a-kind website that compiles deals and coupons from across the web on brand-name items tailored specifically towards women–items like women’s apparel and accessories, home and garden items, beauty products, and children’s items. Through Bargain Jill and its newsletter and social media activities, we’ve been able to find and broadcast deals at more than 50% to 75% off their street prices. Unlike other websites, Bargain Jill doesn’t only include one-day deals and doesn’t require membership. Instead, Bargain Jill is a one-stop-shop for women searching for the best deals on the Internet for items they love and trust. We also have a deals and coupons RSS feed–as well as a daily newsletter, updated Twitter feed, etc.
